Water damage clean up, do it yourself guide

No matter what the cause is, cleaning up water damage is a tedious task to do. Time is most crucial aspect when it comes to water damage clean up. There are some tips which can be implemented in case of water damage to you building.

1.       The first thing which should be checked is the source from where the water is leaking. It can be a leaked pipe or roof.  Try to block that water source as much as you can. This will prevent your house from further damage.

2.       If water is collected on floor or in basement, try to extract it out. Small buckets can also be used if water extractors are not available.

3.       Open up all windows for better circulation of air. This reduces the risk of mold. You can can switch on fans, can get more high power commercial fans on rent too.

4.       Dry the floor using mops or clothes, focus on corners and crawl spaces specially, these places are prone to moisture and mold. Mold once grown is hard to remove and it is harmful for health too.

5.       If you find any mold, spray a fungicide on that area.

6.       Dehumidifiers can used to dry up wet walls, remember to close windows and doors of the room in which you are using dehumidifier.
