How to get a flood damage claim

Due to unawareness, most of the house owners don’t know that there is a big difference between damages caused due to floods and the damages caused due to internal water faults like pipe bursts. Not all insurance companies’ covers flood damage restoration in their policy. It is always better to know this at the time of signing you policy papers. These are some basic steps to following when going for water damage claim:

•   Inform your insurance company and make claim if you are unaware that flood damage claim is covered or not. Do not presume that floods are not covered in your policy.
•   Create a list of all the damaged belongings.
•    Try to save the things from water much as you can, calling a good flood damage restoration company is always better if damage can not be recovered by your self
•    If you have called a flood damage restoration companies, the keep all the receipts if the payments made to them.
•    Take some photographs of the damage site if possible, this will help as evidence. Better if you can make a video of the site.
